“Nature in Motion! —Stop-Motion Animation Workshop” by Raito Low Jing-Yi

“Nature in Motion!” — Stop-Motion Animation Workshop
This event is an extension program of “Whispers of All Beings”, a film festival that moves beyond the screen and into nature itself—where branches, stones, and seeds take center stage to explore a dialogue between animation and the natural world.
From 9/27 (Sat) to 9/28 (Sun), 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, participants will collect natural materials by hand and work in groups of 2–3 to create animations. From plant mandalas to the waltz of nature, the workshop introduces the principles of animation and the spirit of experimental creation, allowing participants to experience the charm of still objects flowing before the camera.
✦ 9/27 (Sat)|Day1 Nature’s Mandala:
Animation principles → Software practice → Plant collection → Mandala animation shooting + sound recording
✦ 9/28 (Sun)|Day2 Nature’s Waltz:
Screening of director’s works → Animation with musical rhythm → Collage creation → Final presentation
Director Raito Low Jing-Yi
Originally from Malaysia and now based in Taiwan, Raito Low is an experimental animation artist and the founder of Raito’s Art Studio. She holds a Master’s degree in Multimedia and Animation Arts from the National Taiwan University of Arts. Her artistic practice centers on stop-motion and video art, often delving into the relationship between humans and nature through landscapes and memories. Incorporating natural elements such as plants, stones, and soil, she crafts a delicate visual language that conveys the fragility of life and the passage of time.
