Liu Shidong, born in Miaoli, Taiwan, holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Arts from Taipei National University of the Arts. During his university years in the 1990s, his highly experimental and ambitious works actively engaged in exhibitions across diverse forms and themes.

His artistic style is richly varied, unrestricted by time or form. His creations range from large-scale provocative installations to intricate paintings, utilizing materials as unconventional as beach sand and ready-made objects in composite spatial works. His paintings vividly reflect his meticulous thought process, emphasizing visual effects and a contemporary aesthetic while maintaining a clear connection to classical artistic traditions.

Liu has long been devoted to exploring local cultural elements, with the "collection" and "reproduction" of found objects as his signature style. His multidisciplinary and experimental approach has garnered widespread attention from both domestic and international art circles. His works are housed in renowned collections such as the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, White Rabbit Gallery in Australia, Deutsche Bank, and the OCI Museum of Art in Seoul, South Korea.

Additionally, Liu has received numerous international art grants and residency invitations, including the New York Art Grant from the Asian Cultural Council (ACC), residencies at Yongin Art Museum in South Korea and 18th Street Arts Center in the U.S., as well as participation in exchange programs at the ACC and Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts.
