The inspiration for this exhibition stems from the recurring presence of purple in the visual elements found across various departments and institutes at National Tsing Hua University. Shades of purple also appear in the campus landscape, while faculty and students frequently wear purple clothing or accessories. This widespread and consistent visual identity has become a defining color impression for visitors and a unique visual experience for Tsing Hua affiliates.
The artist explores the richness of a single, pure color, aiming to evoke natural perceptual and physiological responses in viewers. Through a minimalist yet immersive color domain, the works invite audiences to envision illusions, abstractions, and idealized landscapes of beauty.
The exhibition features both two-dimensional and three-dimensional works in a refined, minimalist style. In the paintings, the singular color expands across the canvas, sometimes constrained within the frame and sometimes defying its boundaries—blurring the distinction between subject and object, ultimately achieving a harmonious balance. The sculptural works, infused with the vibrancy of a single hue, breathe life into their structured forms, as if the very essence of color animates their presence. The artist hopes these pieces will open the viewer’s eyes, shift their inner equilibrium, and inspire contemplation of the perfect balance.
